Recently Jim Kasper, North Dakota State Representative, won half the battle in legalizing online poker in the state and in setting up some form of quality control. His proposal passed in the state’s House. But the majority in the state Senate opposed it. Kasper has not given up. He is ready to go to bat for legislation for he believes it will bring a windfall in tax revenue to North Dakota. He has played his cards about his next steps before the press the press. But when speaking with industry officials he has been more forthcoming. He has approached the gambling industry seeking the needed petitions to have the legislation passed. In order to pass any laws legalizing online gaming, the state’s constitution will have to change so the petition is required.  [back]
